Glenn McQuaid - The Hellfire Club: Excursions In Sound Vol II
The Hellfire Club was founded in 1735 by Richard Parsons, 1st Earl of Rosse, also known as the "King of Hell." Parsons found a home for his debauched club in Mount Pelier, a secluded hunting lodge in the Dublin Mountains.
Members of the club practiced black magic, held satanic masses, and practiced human sacrifice, as well as satanic manifestation. A place was always set at the dining table for the devil himself. It is said that a stranger once sought refuge from a storm and joined the club in a game of cards. When a card fell to the floor, it was revealed that the stranger had a cloven hoof. "The Devil!" the man cried. "The Devil," the stranger answered.
Rumor has it that whispers of alchemy and the occult still echo through the winds that bluster about this most desperate of places. So turn down the lights, close your eyes, and listen carefully, for something of Ireland's most haunted ruin, where the veil between this world and the next is considered thin, has been captured on these recordings.
Recorded with the RØDE NT-SF1, the three recordings contain no overdubbing.
